Among our not only exciting but fun packed day tours from Kampala is the Uganda Equator Day Tour. We meet and greet at your accommodation and start the tour at 7: 30 AM driving towards the south western Uganda through little townships. The drive off the main road to the eco site ( first stopover) is a proper exhibit of rural life showcasing to you the traditional art of constructing houses in the early 1960s , well maintained and clean rural towns, school going kids , well looked after gardens, and the warm people that every now and again wave to you as we drive past their homes. After approximately 1:30 hours , we connect with mother nature at an eco-site where we take you on a 1-2 hours canoeing adventure as well as experience.
In a traditional canoe we start our first activity: tracking for the endangered shoe bills . sitatungas , lots of plant life not forgetting other over 200 bird species that have been recorded at this site.

The shoe bills are a rare species of birds and they are very few in number , this swamp is one of the places where you can see them and its not guaranteed as its over 10,000 hectares and only 9 shoe bills are recorded in it. The site guides are well experienced with the tracking and all the times we have been there, we have seen one or two shoe bills.

After rewarding ourselves to that, we then continue to our next stopover, and stretch our legs with a 1:30 hour forest guided nature walk.We take the butterfly loop where you will feast your eyes to as many as we are chanced to see out of the 95 butterfly species, more forest birds and lots of plants life and trees.
Black and white casqued Hornbills in the forest !
After the forest walk, we then have a short snack break and thereafter meet the traditional drum makers for a cultural experience taking you through the process of making and testing the sound as well.
From here we are more than ready to go meet the Uganda Equator , first have a lunch break at the Equator restaurant , thereafter testing the coriolis forces to justify the imaginary line.
With all that, a beautiful day is guaranteed and by 4;30 pm, we start our return journey to Kampala and before its dark, we are at your accommodation just in time for you to freshen up and have your dinner before you definately get that good night sleep after a good day's body exercise.
